Infinite Possibilities
The A321-XLR will be joining our Mainline fleet in 2026. This new type expands our global reach to new destinations.

VAC’s introduction of the Airbus A321XLR marks one of the most significant fleet developments in the organization's modern era. The aircraft provides VAC with the ability to operate long-haul international routes with the efficiency of a narrow-body jet, enabling VAC to expand into new markets while delivering an elevated premium flight experience.
Key highlights of the A321XLR program include:
VAC has committed to 30 Airbus A321XLR aircraft, with deliveries beginning in 2026.
The aircraft is configured with 182 seats, including 14 lie-flat business seats, making it the first VAC narrow-body aircraft to offer fully flat premium seating.
The A321XLR enables thinner long-haul routes that were previously uneconomical using larger wide-body aircraft. VAC plans to utilize the aircraft on transatlantic services from Montréal and Toronto to destinations such as Toulouse, Edinburgh, Berlin, Dublin, Copenhagen, Manchester, and Palma de Mallorca.
The aircraft will also support premium transcontinental services throughout North America, complementing VAC’s Boeing 787 and Airbus A330 fleets.
The A321XLR is a game-changing aircraft due to its lower fuel consumption, extended range, and flexibility to expand internationally while improving profitability on medium-demand routes.
VAC expects the aircraft to play a major role in expanding year-round European operations and opening niche international destinations from secondary Canadian hubs over time.
Strategically, the A321XLR bridges the gap between domestic narrow-body operations and long-haul wide-body services. It allows VAC to compete more aggressively on long, lower-density routes while maintaining premium cabin standards, operational flexibility, and improved efficiency.
